Frequently asked questions

If the answer you need is not here, write to us. We would rather add a question than answer it fifty times.

Choosing a perfume

How do I choose something I have never smelled?

Order a discovery set. Three vials, worn on three separate days, will tell you more than any description we could write — a paper strip tells you almost nothing about how a composition behaves on skin, in this heat. The price of a set comes back against a full bottle, so trying costs you nothing but time.

What is the difference between eau de toilette, eau de parfum and extrait?

Concentration of perfume oil, and therefore how long it lasts and how close it sits. Eau de toilette is roughly five to fifteen percent and reads lighter and brighter — often the right choice for a thirty-three degree afternoon. Eau de parfum is fifteen to twenty and is the everyday register. Parfum and extrait are twenty percent and above: applied at the pulse points and nowhere else, and one bottle lasts years.

Why does the same perfume smell different on me?

Skin chemistry and climate both change a composition, and humidity here changes it a great deal. This is why our reviews ask how long a scent lasted on the wearer, and why we show the range of answers rather than a single number — a bottle that lasts all day on one person can be gone by lunch on another.

What does "notes" mean on a product page?

The materials you notice as a perfume develops. Top notes are the first ten minutes, heart notes the hour after, base notes what remains at the end of the day. For linear compositions we say so instead of inventing a pyramid — some perfumes simply smell the same throughout, and pretending otherwise would be dressing up a description.

Delivery

Do you deliver to Sabah and Sarawak?

Yes, to Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan, typically in four to seven working days. Delivery is RM300.00 free over that amount, against RM150.00 for Peninsular Malaysia. The thresholds differ because East Malaysia genuinely costs more to reach.

Why can I not choose express delivery for perfume?

Alcohol-based fragrance is a flammable liquid and cannot travel on passenger aircraft. Express services are air services, so they are unavailable for most of what we sell. This is not a policy of ours — no retailer in Malaysia can air-freight a spray. It is also why bottles take longer to reach East Malaysia than a book would.

Do you deliver to PO Boxes or parcel lockers?

No to both. Our couriers require a signature or a photograph at the door, and neither is possible at a box or a locker. A residential or office address works, including a condominium guardhouse.

Do you ship outside Malaysia?

No. Not "not yet" — the export paperwork for alcohol-based perfumery is genuinely involved, and we would rather not do it badly.

When will my parcel arrive?

The window shown at checkout is in working days from dispatch, and dispatch is usually the same day for orders placed before 2pm MYT. We give ranges rather than dates because per-state public holidays and the Friday–Saturday weekend in Johor, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu make a single promised date undeliverable.

Nobody was home. What happens now?

Couriers here usually attempt twice, then hold the parcel at a branch or drop-off point and message you. Contact them directly with your tracking number — they can redirect a parcel far faster than we can from our end.

Products and ingredients

Are any of your fragrances halal certified?

Our alcohol-free attars and perfume oils carry certification, and the certifier is named on those product pages. Our alcohol-based sprays do not, and we do not claim otherwise — certification for alcohol-based perfumery is a genuinely contested question, and putting a badge on a bottle of alcohol denat. would be us picking a side we are not qualified to pick.

Do you list full ingredients?

Yes, the complete INCI list on every product page, along with the declarable fragrance allergens it contains. Malaysia follows the ASEAN Cosmetic Directive, whose annexes align closely with the European list, so the allergen data is the same data you would see on a European label.

Are your products notified to the NPRA?

Cosmetic products placed on the Malaysian market must be notified to the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency. Where we hold a notification number we print it on the product page. This is a demonstration build, so no number is shown anywhere — we would rather show nothing than put an invented regulatory reference on a public page.

Can I test a perfume before buying a full bottle?

That is what discovery sets are for, and every order includes two samples chosen to suit what you bought — three on larger orders. You cannot pick the samples; we choose what goes with what you ordered.

How should I store a bottle in this climate?

Away from sunlight and away from heat, which in practice means not on a windowsill and not in a bathroom. Heat and light degrade a composition faster than time does. A cupboard is ideal, and the box it came in is a perfectly good one.

Orders, payment and returns

Which payment methods do you accept?

FPX online banking with most Malaysian banks, e-wallets including Touch ’n Go, GrabPay, Boost and ShopeePay, and Visa or Mastercard, debit or credit.

Do your prices include tax?

Yes. Prices include SST where applicable, and nothing is added at checkout except delivery, which is shown before you pay.

Can I return a perfume if I do not like it?

If it is unopened and within 30 days, yes — that is our policy, offered because buying unsniffed is a leap of faith. Once a seal is broken we cannot take it back, for hygiene reasons: a returned bottle cannot honestly be sold to anyone else. Note that Malaysia has no statutory cooling-off period for online retail, so this is our policy rather than a right you hold.

What if something arrives faulty or damaged?

Tell us and photograph the parcel before finishing unpacking it, outer box included — it is the one thing a courier claim needs and it cannot be recreated later. Under the Consumer Protection Act 1999 goods must be of acceptable quality, fit for purpose and as described; we repair, replace or refund, and we pay the postage both ways.

How long do refunds take?

Cards usually clear in three to five working days once the parcel reaches us. FPX and e-wallet refunds route back through the bank or wallet and often take longer, sometimes up to fourteen days. That delay sits with them and we cannot speed it up, but we can tell you the day we issued it.

Do I need an account?

There are no accounts. Checkout is guest-only, and your order confirmation carries a link that reaches your order without a password. Keep that email — it is the only way back to it.

Why does my saved list not appear on my phone?

Because saved items live in the browser you saved them in, not in an account — there is no account to hold them. They also disappear if you clear your browsing data. The trade is that we are not asking you to create a login to keep a shortlist.

Getting hold of us

How do I contact you?

Email hello@adiwangi.com or call +60 3 2000 0000. We are open Monday to Friday, 9am – 6pm MYT. Messages sent through the contact form get a reference number — quote it if you need to follow up.

Can I visit the studio?

By appointment. Our address is where the perfumes are blended and packed rather than a shop, so please write before coming — otherwise you will find an office lobby.
